Re-writing a Story as a Script: group size equals the number of story characters plus a
narrator.
Stories from pictures: Collect shots of people, places and activities and hand them out to a group of students, so they have to create a
story based on the photos.
Personal Ads: To practice writing descriptively you can encourage your students to write personal ads using
adjectives and/or adverbs.
Dear Diary: Have slips of paper with different situations ready so the students have to pick one and develop the story as if writing
about it on their diaries.
Describing Fruit: Blindfolded students will each have a fruit so they can write a piece on describing it, with as much detail as possible, to someone who are visiting the supermarket.
Find the Lie: students write 3 statements each but one is a lie. The others will ask some
questions to try to find out which one is the lie.
Split Story: students are given the first paragraph of a story and need to add another
one, before passing to the next student to continue writing it until the end.
