O Pay not offered related to individual output.
O Improper balance of individual workload.
O Development of standard cost model for
service provided.
O Office work involves significant amount of
“mental work”, non-repetitive and irregular jobs.
Steps Involved
O Job detail is found out.
O An estimation is done by breaking down work contents of job into elements.
O The time for each work is estimated at standard performance.
O These total job times are then added to get total job time.
O An allowance for relaxation and necessary contingency is made to give standard time.
Benefits
O Distribution of working time makes it possible to
identify extremes of short and long hours of
work.
O Can be applied for non-repetitive jobs and jobs
having long cycle time.
O Improved labor control.
O It is economical as it uses standard data to fix
standard time for each job.
Potential obstacles
O If Standard data is not available for a job then
standard time is fixed by work-study engineer.
O Not accurate compared to scientific study time.
