TRIMESTRAL EVALUATION9th GRADE

VISUAL ARTSTHE VICTORIA SCHOOL

Criteria Criteria A Knowing and Understanding:

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the postmodern art, including concepts, processes, and the use of site-specific terminology.

Criteria C Thinking Creatively: Demonstrate a range and depth of creative-thinking behaviors.

Criteria D Responding: Construct meaning related to the postmodern views and transfer it to new settings.

Key Concepts

Culture:

“The concept of culture I espouse. . . is essentially a semiotic one. Believing, with Max Weber, that man is an animal suspended in webs of significance he himself has spun, I take culture to be those webs, and the analysis of it to be therefore not an experimental science in search of law but an interpretative one in search of meaning.”

Clifford Geertz

Key Concepts

Context:

The facts or circumstances that surround an event or situation. Contexts that might have a social, political, religious or economic focus.

Key Concepts

Infography:

An information graphic (infographic) is a visual representation of a data set or instructive material. An infographic takes a large amount of information in text or numerical form and then condenses it into a combination of images and text, allowing viewers to quickly grasp the essential insights the data contains. Infographics are not a product of the Web, but the Internet has helped popularize their use as a content medium.
