St Mark’s Media Blog

http://www.stmarksmediaasg22012.blogspot.co.uk/

Blogger acted as a storage and was the place where all of our posts were uploaded. This was very good as we were able to post work and then re-edit or refer to the posts again later if needed

I learnt that blogging work can be very effective as there is a space under each persons' work to comment. After I done my work, some people c0ommented with possible improvements which I took on board and it enhanced my work

I learnt how to move around images, use different fonts, change font size and add in images and videos to make the posted work look more appealing.

I learnt how to check other people blogs so that I could compare my work to the best examples and see how my work weighed up against exemplar posts. This meant I was able to make sure that all the posts I put up were to a good quality

I MacI learnt that the Macs were going to be increasingly important during the process of the film production as the main editing programmes were on this e.g. I Movie

I learnt how to access the internet via safari for the vital research and planning stage

I learnt how to use various different tools such as grab to take screenshots, as well as how to save files from the internet to a place where they are

easily accessible.

I learnt that the Macs are a lot quicker and easier to use than standard computers, thus it would be very useful over the course of my film production

Flip Camera

I learnt how easy it was to upload clips from the Flip Camera to the I Macs. As it was built with a USB inside you can simply just place the USB onto the Mac and transfer the footage directly onto the Macs. This was useful when it came to uploading audience feedback as you were able to upload it straight onto I Movie which is the programme we used to edit our film.

I also learnt that this would perhaps only be good for audience feedback as the shot quality wasn’t the best and if it were to be used in the production phase of our thriller then the film would not look professional and would look as inexperienced as our preliminary task.

DV CameraI learnt how to record with a handheld camera through the use of this. This was very effective down in the production phase of my film as we used a handheld shot to immerse the audience into the action.

I learnt how to transfer files from the DV camera to the computers, but this was a very slow process which prompted me to think of using a different camera

I learnt that the quality of shots was very good with this camera and I was able to play around with various different camera angles. I decided to sue this to experiment with how they might look then use another camera to actually carry it out.

Cannon EOS 650 DLRSFrom using this camera I learnt how to make footage clear or blurry using the autofocus tool

I also learnt how to have a unsettling noise in the background or just have ambient sounds by playing around with the autofocus.

I learnt how to use various different shots o good effect such as close ups, long shots, extreme close ups, mid shots, high/low angle shots and panning.

I learnt that this was by mar the best camera that we have used in comparison to the DV and Flip camera. As the image and sound quality on this was HD and looked very professional

LIGHTING/ LIGHTS

I learnt that this could be very effective in our thriller in order to create suspense an mystery whilst doing the three point lighting trial. We were able to use this in our thriller by using this technique to slowly reveal the face of our character, which was effective as it was able to bring in traditional conventions of thrillers in our piece such as suspense, mystery an tension

I also learnt that this could be attached and detached from the camera very easily, which was helpful as it was not getting in my eyesight whilst I was filming meaning I was able to get the very best shots.

I MOVIEThrough I Movie I was able to learn how to upload videos onto YouTube, move images around and add in images and sound as well as footage.

I also learnt how to use transitions and sound effects in order to give my thriller a professional edge.

I learnt that the key to a successful product is being able to utilise the tools of I Movie correctly, so if we were able to master this programme then we would have a successful thriller opening.

I learnt how to use the picture on picture tool as well as the green screen and black and white effect. I also learnt how to edit the sound so that the score dropped at the right points to go with the action sequence.

GARAGE BAND

I learnt how to record sounds for our final thriller as well as voice noted for audience feedback

I learnt that in order to get the best sound you need total silence when recording otherwise you get outside disturbances which can negatively effect the outcome of the final thriller.

YOUTUBE

I learned how to embed videos from Youtube onto my blog page and programmes such as Slideshare and Prezi

I learnt that Youtube is a good place to store videos as it is accessible to a global audience meaning various people can comment on the videos with advice on how to improve.

SLIDESHAREI learnt how to upload powerpoints to slideshare so that I would be able to embed presentations and make it available online and not just post as a link

I also learnt that these powerpoints are available on the slideshare website so it can get viewed by many other people who decided to comment and I took their advice on board in order to improve my work.
