What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Technologies We LearntCamera: Some of us had very little experience using a video camera therefore it was really interesting for us to learn about the functions of the Canon video camera which we were using. We used this camera for our opening sequence throughout the entire day. The great thing is that it was simple and friendly to use, therefore it wasnt too complex. We learnt about how to record and stop, how to playback our scenes which we recorded and how to adjust lighting. However we didnt want to adjust it on the camera as we felt we didnt want to get it wrong, therefore we used other sources such as a huge light as an artificial light. We used a tripod to support our camera so our footage was not shaky.

Voice Recorder: No one in our group had previous experience with a Voice recorder other than the app we have on our phones, therefore we were taught how to use voice recorders to re-record sound and add it to our opening sequence on Final Cut Pro. In my group Amy and Georgia used the voice recorder to re-record their narration for our opening sequence. We received help from our teacher on how to accurately record properly with no background noise, this meant we went into a small room to record.

Mac Computers: As a Windows user, I never had the experience to use a Mac. Therefore gradually throughout our Media Lessons we learnt how to use these computers. Our teachers gave us guidance on how to use them, for example its a lot easier to copy and paste an image on PC in my opinion rather than on Mac, therefore this is something I had to learn and adjust to.

We used titles from here for our company ident, and for our titles throughout the opening sequence.

Here is a closer look at some of the titles displayed. As mentioned in the previous slide, my group and I used these titles for our opening sequence. It took us a while to find the perfect one because we wanted titles which would match and look appropriate in being displayed in a Teen Drama, If our titles do not reflect our genre then it would confuse our audience.

Here is a zoomed in screenshot of our opening sequence coming together. As you can see we have placed a shadow effect at the very start, we have included narration too, where Melody Oak says Im stressed, Im tired, and Im spending my weekend doing revision again. There also is titles placed too. Originally as shown from the picture we used a typewriter title to introduce our company name, this later changed to a different title.

C:\Users\huzayfah\Downloads\Screen Shot 2017-01-26 at 15.14.26.pngGarage band is something which my group and I had never used before, therefore the first couple of lessons when we were editing we were playing around with Garageband so we could get familiar in terms of how to use it so then we could construct our own background music for our opening sequence. We found various different style of music of Garageband but one thing I must admit, it was indeed very difficult to try construct a piece of background music which would fit a teen drama genre as there wasnt enough sounds we could find which were appropriate for our genre. I think Garageband is more easier to construct background music for e.g. thriller opening sequences.

We used YouTube to find non-copyrighted music inspiration ideas and to upload our final sequence. We used Mahara to record our journal throughout the coursework process

Garage Band was used to help us experiment how to construct a teen drama background music theme.

Sound Cloud was used to upload our audio questionnaires

IMDB was used to help us identify similar teen drama movies

Final Cut Pro was used in order for us to edit out Prelim Task and our Opening sequence (Rough cut and final)

We watched trailers using Pearl &Dean
