French AP Students are getting more contact time with the language b/c of BYOT. They are assigned and immersed in the “real language” through almost daily opportunities to engage in listening and speaking skills …they study excerpts from films, popular television, talk shows, daily news, radio programs, … recipes, advertisements – almost anything you can think of that a native person is exposed to!

Walking through the cafeteria yesterday, I saw a group of 4 girls singing “Happy Birthday” to a friend – on Skype!

Each academic counselor used their smartphone, student cell phones and the cloud! Students were tasked with accessing Edline, downloading a blank schedule from their Freshmen Seminar class, color coding it with Picture Manager/Adobe/app of choice and then sharing end product with their counselor.

The students really seem to be figuring it out on their own – it is pretty cool seeing them answer each-others questions when they face similar struggles.

I don’t know how glamorous it is, but I do really like how it’s worked out. So I’m actually creating my map sections on my test in Google Maps, that way when the students do their Google Maps assignment they have example. I think it really helps them out.
