WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH ME?
Gives teachers the opportunity to provide students with tools to allow them to
• Communicate
• Collaborate
• Create
• Critically Think
• And
• Contribute
WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH ME?
What is my responsibility?
Make sure every student is able to utilize a device – you wouldn’t teach a lesson that requires the textbook, and allow only 22 of your 29 students to have access to one ensuring accessibility
means:
• giving advance notice of 1 block that a lesson util izing devices will be given next class
• obtaining ‘backup’ laptops/chromebooks so kids can participate fully even if their device is not with them or isn’t working(a lot of kids get their phones "taken away for a week” as
consequences at home)
• allow students to “pair up” with someone as a way to provide accessibility and accountability
INTERNET SECURITY
• LCPS takes precautions to restrict access to undesirable
or inappropriate materials using firewalls and filtering applications on LCPS wireless networks
• Teachers and staff should monitor user activity
• Appropriate disciplinary actions will be pursued for violations
WHAT IMPACT DOES IT HAVE ON OUR STUDENTS?
INSTRUCTIONAL TOOLS
BYOT supports the One to the World instructional initiative as it provides students with the connectivity to the tools and information they need, connects students with a global audience, and connects students to those with whom they can collaborate.
