Welcome to Skåne Imagine that a group of students from Japan are coming to Pauli Gymnasium for a three month long exchange program. Swedish and Japanese culture differs a great deal and they might need some information about how to act in their new country. What do they have to know about Swedish customs and Swedish traditions? And how would you describe Malmö to them? You will work in groups of three to four persons and you will make a video where you: 1. Present Swedish customs. How do Swedish people act in different situations? For example when we greet each other, when we eat at restaurants or when we meet new people. Things that the students might need to know before they come here. Relate this information to what you find out about Japanese customs in the text “10 Japanese customs you must know before a trip to Japan”. 2. Present Swedish traditions. You will be given a Swedish tradition, for example Christmas, Easter or Midsummer’s eve. Present the background of this tradition and how it is celebrated in Sweden. 3. Present Malmö (or another place in Skåne). Tell the students what it is like to live here and show them some famous places to see while staying here. The movie should be approximately 8-10 minutes long and include all three paragraphs above. All group members must participate in the video. You will have approximately three weeks to finish the assignment. Before you start filming I would like an update on your work so far and what you are planning to do. You will be examined on your performance in the video and on your participation in the working process.

Imagine that a group of students from Japan are coming to Pauli Gymnasium for a three

month long exchange program. Swedish and Japanese culture differs a great deal and they

might need some information about how to act in their new country. What do they have

to know about Swedish customs and Swedish traditions? And how would you describe

Malmö to them?

You will work in groups of three to four persons and you will make a video where you:

1. Present Swedish customs. How do Swedish people act in different situations? For

example when we greet each other, when we eat at restaurants or when we meet

new people. Things that the students might need to know before they come here.

Relate this information to what you find out about Japanese customs in the text “10

Japanese customs you must know before a trip to Japan”.

2. Present Swedish traditions. You will be given a Swedish tradition, for example

Christmas, Easter or Midsummer’s eve. Present the background of this tradition and

how it is celebrated in Sweden.

3. Present Malmö (or another place in Skåne).Tell the students what it is like to live here

and show them some famous places to see while staying here.

The movie should be approximately 8-10 minutes long and include all three paragraphs

above. All group members must participate in the video.

You will have approximately three weeks to finish the assignment. Before you start filming I

would like an update on your work so far and what you are planning to do.

You will be examined on your performance in the video and on your participation in the

working process.
