“People” SprintBuilding a new staff directory

Page 16: Website Redux: May Update for Library Staff

“People” Sprint Successes

• Our development workflow worked!• We laid a good foundation for humanizing

our website.• We uncovered questions about how users

communicate with staff.• We got a lot done!

Page 17: Website Redux: May Update for Library Staff

“People” Sprint Challenges

• We waited too long to integrate design work into the Drupal site.

• We had to make too many decisions during the sprint.

• We needed more Drupal experience overall (and we’re getting it!).

Pretty cool.

Nicest. Simple, but at first glance it doesn’t look like it does much.

Too vague.

Basic. This is where I’d like to start.

It has more detail that might help me.

I like having a list of familiar databases right there.

Scary. Lot’s of stuff.

I wouldn’t use those tabs.

Nice simple search, has other options like more specific tabs.

Easy, clean, searches everything.

Too general.I wouldn’t use those tabs.

It is simple. I like to search by author/title/keyword.

I want to search by call number.

Looks older. Like a search engine.

Intimidating to look at. Reminds me of a journal or database, something from the 90s.

What do you find most helpful?

Nothing! The new update has made it so difficult and unnecessarily hard to reserve a room. Hate the new update it sucks.

It's easy to use. Clearly designed.

It has tons of resources.

Citation index, interlibrary loan, ask a librarian

Search box on the main page. Hours on the main page.

Page 50: Website Redux: May Update for Library Staff

What do you find frustrating?

Sometimes it's hard to find the right place in the webpage

There are probably useful resources that got buried somewhere in one of the drop down menus, so I don't even know that they are there.

Everything is under links nested under links nested under links. It takes so many clicks to get anywhere. I only know how to use the page from hours and hours of frustrated exploration.

Page 51: Website Redux: May Update for Library Staff

What features would you like?

Display more prominently the events that take place at the library.

Could the library advertise its services like companies do their new products? Then I will know that these services exist and use them.

User dashboard with my own bookmarked databases, ebooks, references, scanned articles. Sort of like a zotero interface. Able to personalize.
