An E-Book is an Electronic Book. It is downloaded to a computer, PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone or any other kind of reading device, and it is read on the screen. It can have numbered pages, table of contents, pictures and graphics, exactly like a printed book.

Started out for small and very targeted markets: technical manuals, etc.

2. When you need certain information, you can get it immediately, by downloading an ebook.

3. Ebooks take up less space.

4. Ebooks are portable.

5. Ebooks are searchable.

6. Ebooks are very easy to to sell and distribute.

7. And many many more benefits.

What are the benefits and advantages of ebooks?

Japan produces more e-books per capita than any other country, and is the second largest market in the world after United States.

Global E-Books

According to report by members of the Global and Area Studies Department, Perkins Library, Duke University

E-Books have not yet made significant progress in Pakistan. And no national statistics are available. A handful of academic and commercial publishers have recently begun taking small steps into e-book publishing.

One of the reasons for this slow pace is the high prices of eReaders and tablets. An iPad tablet will cost you R50,000 while the entry level Kindle eReader is for approximately Rs 20,000
