PQRST Method• A method that helps one improve performance in exams.

• Focusses on data information useful for answering questions and scoring well for examinations and improving academic performance.

PQRST Stands For:• P -> Preview• Q -> Question• R -> Read• S -> Summary/Self Recitation• T -> Test

• Preview -> Skimming the topic and underlying subtopics in brief.• Question -> As you ‘Preview’ the topics, formulate questions as

well in the mean time that you carry in your mind.• Read -> Start in depth and thorough reading of each topic

and sub topic that you had skimmed while previewing.

• Summary -> Here, summarize in brief whatever has been covered in the reading part.

• Test -> Final step that helps one gain confidence over the studied topics.

Rote Learning•Method used for quick learning and memorizing.• Common example of use of this method is learning periodic

table, learning multiplication table.• Used for gaining command over the foundational knowledge

and information.• Not effective for mastering the advanced level topics.• A method that is however discouraged and criticized by many

teachers and academicians.• Ineffective for subjects such as Mathematics and Science that

involve logic and in depth understanding.

Flash Cards• The learning process can be proceeded with this method.

• One can use keywords or detailed/well explained information for this purpose.

• Also considered a useful tool for educators/Teachers.

• These cards can contain keywords, imaged and any other key resource helpful for memorizing/recalling important concepts/logics/information for learning.

Keywords• An effective tool used by many.

• Useful in condensing large information in the least words.

• Can adopt various suitable structure and a tool followed/used in many other methods such as Mind maps.

Visual Imagery• Use of diagrams and adapting visual images for learning is

one method used by many and is also considered beneficial.

• These imaged can be used in mind maps and flash cards as well to enhance and improve steps of learning and memorizing.

Acronym and Mnemonics• Typical verbal learning can be made easy by using such

techniques.

• Difficult part can be memorized easily by abbreviating them and creating mnemonics for the above.

•Most common example can be BODMAS(Bracket of Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction).

• These methods are very effective in enhancing study skills and scoring well for examinations.
