Day Three:The War

Instructor: Daniel Ball

Analyze Learners:

Students are in the ninth grade. There are twenty-eight students in the class. The class is composed of sixteen girls and twelve boys, with two Hispanic students and one African-American student.

State Objectives:

Students will demonstrate their understanding of the major battles of the civil war with ninety percent competency through classroom participation and documenting a virtual tour.

Utilize Media, Material, and Methods:

1- The computer will be used to access digital media and present a short lecture to the class. Students will use their computers to access Second Life and post their screen shots on their wiki page.2- The projector will be connected to the teachers computer to project the lecture PowerPoint and to show the class how to get to the virtual Gettysburg3- Second Life will be use to tour a battlefield recreation and museum with a online Avatar4- Wikispace will be used by the class to post their screen shots along with an explanation of what each shot shows.5-Pencils will be used by the students to take notes on the paper provided.6- Paper will be used with the pencils to take notes on the lecture.7- PowerPoint will be used by the teacher to present information and images to the student during the short lecture at the beginning of class.8- The Smart Board will be used with the projector and the teachers computer to present the lecture and Second Life demonstration.

Require Learner Participation:

Note taking and Questions.Students will be encouraged to take notes and ask question during and after the lecture.

Second Life.Using the virtual world students will travel and observe a recreation and museum of Gettysburg.

Students will document their experience using screen shot. These screen shot will be posted to their wiki page along with explanation of what each shot shows.

Evaluate and Revise:

Students will be evaluated for their participation in the lecture and their posting of their screen shots. Students must have at least five screen shots and explanations for each.
