Mustafa Kemal Atatürk founded the Turkish

Republic after the Independence War.

He was born in 1881, in Selanica. He died

in 1938 in Dolmabahçe palace. He was

a great leader.

In the time of Herodotus, the Cappadocians were reported as occupying the whole region from Mount Taurus to the

vicinity of the Euxine (Black Sea). Cappadocia, in this

sense, was bounded in the south by the chain of the Taurus

Mountains that separate it from Cilicia, to the east by the

upper Euphrates and the Armenian Highland, to the north by Pontus, and to the west by Lycaonia and eastern Galatia.

Hagia Sophia Turkish: Ayasofya) is a former Orthodox patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, and now a museum in

Istanbul, Turkey. From the date of its dedication in 360 until

1453, it served as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral and seat of

the Patriarchate of Constantinople, except between 1204

and 1261, when it was converted to a Roman Catholic cathedral under the Latin Empire. The building was a mosque

from 29 May 1453 until 1931, when it was secularized. It was

opened as a museum on 1 February 1935.
