Using this presentation I will identify the common advantages and disadvantages of the use o emails and blogs in online courses or in the classroom.

Introduction

The use of emails has revolutionized the way teachers communicate with their students.

This approach can be very useful in all countries where technology is available and users are computer friendly.

Teachers can send assignments to students whenever the teacher is absent.

Students may turn in their homework assignments without the use of paper.

Less littering. Quicker responses to messages and

questions. Economically speaking, students and

teachers will save hundreds of dollars in paper and ink cartridges.

Advantages of emails

Some students do not own technology in their homes; if they do many don’t have internet service in their house or the area they live in.

Not all students are computer friendly. Even though teachers are not responsible for

it, some emails may carry viruses or spyware that may infect your computer.

Some attached documents may not be compatible with some Microsoft Office tools due to different updates.

Disadvantages

Blogs are usually used for providing information and personal opinions towards a certain topic or theme.

How a blog is like

Accessible to all users. Contains brief yet valuable information

about a certain topic. Open to free opinions and comments. May carry different sites for further

research. Promotes peer evaluation. Suitable for all users. Content is tentative(subject to change).

Advantages of Blogging

Some users may have problems with commenting on the blog.

Many Blogs require registering to a new email account or web page.

Some Blogs may create arguments between the commentators due to the difference in opinions.

Pop ups may become a problem while browsing for the blog.

Some may eventually be hacked and infected by spammers.

Disadvantages
