Pain and Gain

Based on a true story, "Pain & Gain" follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida.

First told in an article from the "Miami New Times," "Pain and Gain" was directed by Bay and starred Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

How it’s layered

Just like a report, a movie has segments The segment usually go like this;

Intro

Subject introduction

added information (explanation) on the subject

Ending

What I noticed

for each of these topics the movie sound changes. The intro is soft and quiet, with a preview of the main characters bio. I’d like to think that the music fits the characters personality and that what the creators were aiming for. There’s an added sense of pathos to keep you hooked on the trailer and I believe that’s why it was added.

Overall

Overall the trailer include many of the main topics needed for sound within film.

Like the pathos in the first scene and throughout.

Foley work for the action points where hitpoints are used.

outro

As a sound for film student I understand all the elements required to build a successful film clip.

The sound plays one of the biggest roles within a film because without it you wouldn’t have emotion or amplified action.

Film without without sound is simply a car without wheels. Great to look at but unable to move due to a lack of parts.
