NATIONAL MAGAZINESNational magazines have to retain a few valuables each time they create an issue. They must always stick to their respective genre whether that be film, music, sport, entertainment, fashion or food. Their content can vary in different forms such as interviews, Q&A’s, exclusive comments, reviews, how-to guides etc. They try to include a wider range as possible as they are trying to reach people all over the country. They may have a target audience in mind or a specific age range but they are always looking to create the gap bigger so that they attract a bigger following. They often include articles that feature ‘best in the world’ displayed or their front covers may include ‘UK’s hottest talent’ or ‘world exclusive’. This is to show that the content they include is valuable not only nationally but internationally.

REGIONAL MAGAZINESRegional magazines do share similar qualities to national magazines. Their content each issue must be attractive and interesting for their readers to read. They do this by also including various articles including reviews and interviews depending on the genre. However, their content must try to aim to be as regional as possible. This due to the fact that their target audience are going to buy it so it informs and entertainments them information regarding their local area. If a regional magazine failed to do this then they could lose readers and their magazine will lose purpose as it would originally have launched as a magazine targeted at a specific region.
