BUILDING CURRICULUMWITH 21ST CENTURY TOOLS
SOME THINGS WE ARE CONSIDERING AS WE BUILD A REVAMP THE TECH CURRICULUM…
– Addition of new skills and new knowledge into the curriculum
– How important will traditional skills actually be inthe 21st Century… keyboarding for example!
– How do we address an ever-increasing body of knowledge and incorporate numerous new skills in the time we have available?

Things Happening
• www.wcsd.wikispaces.net
– Purchase of Wikispaces Private Label account 9/09
– Includes Administrative oversight of all wikis and users
– 56 Teacher Wikis as of 1/8/10
– 1, 356 users registered as of 1/8/10
– Wikis are being used for everything fromclassroom wikis/web pages to Zephyr Radio and Club Wikis
Things Happening
• Moodle.CLIU.org
– Moodle = Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment
– Excellent platform for integrating 21st Century Teaching and Learning!
– Currently have 99 course spaces for many grade levels at Moodle.CLIU.org
– Moodle is being used for everything from providing links to Web 2.0 tools to preparing for and administering final exams!
Other Things Happening
• Laptops, Smart Board, and two projectors utilized heavily in the High School Library
• Computer carts based in TIC office used daily
• Computer carts and other technology scheduled completely online
• Numerous hardware and software trainings offered in groups and individually
Other Things Happening
• Classroom Performance Systems (the clickers) are being used more frequently
• More teachers engaging in self-directed training such as webinars
• Teachers throughout the district are working to incorporate 21st Century teaching techniques into their lesson plans
