“Assignments” screen will open automatically

Click “Create Assignment” button

“Create Assignment” page will open automatically

List will ask you to click on a bubble to indicate the *Type of digital resource

A specific type (bubble) must be selected before you can choose an option for digital hand-in

This will cause a new section for digital hand-in to open in the window

Teacher must check a box in the "Digital Hand In" section

2. Types of Resources for Digital Hand-In

Different types of digital resources will allow students / teachers to access different functions.

Some types offer box for "Students digitally hand in this resource"

These would be considered work pages for the students to use directly

Specific examples:

o Online document (see pg. 2 for more details) o File for Download (see pg. 2) o Publish & Peer Review (see pg. 3) o Online Quiz (see pg. 3)

Some types of digital resources offer box for "Students must view this resource before handing in another resource"

These would be considered reference materials

Specific examples:

o Media: Allows you to upload your own resource (such as MP4) or use a web URL (such as YouTube link)

o Web Link: Makes it possible for students to navigate a website within the TeacherEase system.

However, you can only move forward through a website.

Back function does not seem to be available.

o File for Download: Teachers can load a file, students can view / download file, and students can upload a file to turn in to teacher electronically

Discussed at greater length at the end of page 2.

Click "Preview" button to see if file converts correctly.

Do not hit “Close”, or you will lose your work.

Once you test whether media / link / file is converted successfully, you must choose a bubble to let the program know that either everything looks fine.

If not, click the other bubble to open resource in New Tab.

Last, click “Add” button (or “Upload” button) to upload the resource.

Do not hit “Close”, or you will lose your work.

Some types of resources give a choice between two options: "Students digitally hand in this resource" or "Students must view this resource before handing in another resource." Examples:

o Online Document: Allows teacher to upload or create your own document for students to complete.

Once you go through the "Choose File" process and hit the "Upload" button, it shows an image of your converted document.

Remember to click “Add” button to save file.

During testing, upload was successful using PDF and Word documents.

Another option is "Create Online Document" => click "Create Online Document" button at bottom of screen

Opens up a screen with features like a word processing program.

User can type in text by hand or copy & paste text from Microsoft Word.

o File for Download: Teachers can load a file, students can view / download file, and students can upload a file to turn in to teacher electronically

These options appear as check boxes under the "File for Download" bubble, on the “Type” list.

Both functions can be used at the same time (both boxes can be checked)

Some types of resources automatically check the "Students digitally hand in this resource" box.

o Examples: Peer Review and Online Quiz

o Publish & Peer Review

Requires an online document to be previously assigned.

If nothing is available, drop-down menu offers no selections.

Peer review can be done anonymously (but this option is not set as default or

recommended).

o Online Quiz

Students complete and submit a quiz online

In many cases, quiz can be graded automatically.

3. Final Notes

Only one resource per assignment may be marked for Digital Hand-In.

Always be sure to finish by clicking "Upload" (or “Add” or “Preview”) button to save your changes.

o "Close Window" button will NOT save your work.

o User will lose data, settings, and any file(s) that were uploaded.

Remember to click one of the "Save" options (“Save & Enter Scores” or “Save only”) when you return to the "Create Assignment" screen.

4. After students upload assignment: Review Work through Status Console Online Help > Learning Management System > Status Console > Review Student Work Status Console Help:

http://www.teacherease.com/help/InstrLMSElem/index.html?pm_status_console.htm Utilize the status console to monitor and manage student work as they access digital resources and electronically work on and hand in assignments. Track student progress in real time for online assignments. This allows teachers to see how quickly students are progressing on an assignment, where they may be struggling or identify who may need additional help. Teachers can also use the console to enter scores and comments into the gradebook. Students can view corrections, feedback, and scores online after teachers review and return their work. (Can be conducted entirely online by both students and teachers).
