This data shows that 73.3% of people that answered my questionnaire were aged between 16-18. the other 26.6% or participants were equally split into the Under 16, and 19-21 categories.

It also shows that out of the 15 responses, the majority of participants were female at 53.3%, although this a only a majority by a small margin.

No subjects have an annual income below £10,000, and only 15.4% have an income between £10,000 and £20,000. Almost one quarter of participants have an annual income above £21,000 but below £30,000. The majority, combined at 61.8% have an average annual income of £31,000 and above. Two people opted out of answering this question.

One person surveyed has not received any formal qualifications, however this is likely to be a participant under 16 as mentioned previously. 60% of people questioned have their GCSE qualifications, and a third of subjects have managed to achieve their A Level qualifications. This further indicates a younger audience I should be targeting in my music video production.

This pie chart indicates that a very large majority of participants have a preference in the Pop/R&B genre. This is likely due to the fact that most of the people that answered this questionnaire were under 18, and female. This would also make sense considering those are the two demographic factors which represent the target audience for this genre of music.

13.3% of subjects are interested in alternative music, which is the genre of song I am using for my own music video. Although this is a minority, the track I have chosen has Pop elements to it, so my audience should still be satisfied with the end result.

A selection of favourite artists by the participants of this questionnaire. This shows that these people are interested in mainstream artists and their music, with less focus on alternative musicians.

Over half the people questioned watch music videos daily on sites such as YouTube and Vevo. 40% watch music videos either weekly or monthly, and the other 6.6% do not regularly watch music videos, but may view a new release by their favourite artist.

The majority of participants have a preference for performance based music videos, whilst 40% enjoy music videos that are attached to a narrative. Upon seeing this data I am going to incorporate a combination of narrative and performance aspects into my own production.

I am going to try and include as many of these suggestions possible into my own production. Specifically trying to link the song lyrics to the visuals, and make them interesting to engage my audience.

The majority of people think ‘dark and depressing’ visuals would fit the song well. I personally agree with this, although I also like the idea of contradicting the lyrics of the song by having bright visuals in the music video.

Just over 25% of participants disagree with this statement and 13.3% are undecided. However 60% of people surveyed either agree or strongly agree that a beach should be the primary setting. This means I will stick to my original plan.

Over half the subjects questioned agree that hills and mountains should be features as a secondary setting in my music video. With this data, I feel that I should keep this location as one of my settings.

I like the suggestion of a deserted area, and also using a woodland. Both of these could possibly be used as secondary locations to the beach in my production. An urban area will be difficult to film in because of other people walking within the frame of the shot, and also adds a lot of stress and pressure whilst filming.

80% of 15 people believe that my music video should be set in the evening, and at least 2 of these people went on to agree that night-time should also be featured in my music video. A minority of participants have chosen for the music video to be set either in the morning or during the day.

A lot of the suggestions given lean towards ‘supernatural’ or ‘horror’ elements to include in my plan. Although I am interested in this, I am unsure on how practical this idea is. However, I do like the idea of romance being an element to explore so I may look into this further.

Almost every participant of this questionnaire thought black, ‘gothic’ clothing would be a fitting choice of outfit for the star of my music video. I am going to use the idea of everyday clothing because this will give the impression that the events of the music video (specifically walking into the sea) were not expected, as would be if she was wearing a swimming costume.
