SPORTS SUPERSTITIONS PLAYING IT SAFE.

Most athletes, in particular, are very superstitious. Some players have their own private rituals- carrying a good luck charm for example, or saying certain words. Good luck charm: an object that is believed to bring good luck.

Lending: giving sth to sb for temporary use (on condition that it be returned).

Player: a person on a team

Wipe: to slide sth over a surface, in order to remove dirt, food or liquid

Soles: the bottom part of shoes

Bounce: to cause sth move up or away after hitting a surface

Tap: strike lightly

Sharpened: made more pointy or able to cut

Even number: a number than when divided by 2 produces a whole number

Odd number: a number that when divided by 2 does not produce a whole number

Jellybeans: small, brightly-colored, bean shaped candies that are soft in the middle and covered with hard sugar.

Winning streak: a consecutive series of wins

Mascot: a person, animal, or object adopted by a group as a symbolic figure especially to bring them good luck

Logo: a small picture or design that a company or organization uses as its symbol.
