Alien fits into the science fiction category as ‘aliens’ are supposedly in our universe somewhere and are one of the biggest science research topics.

Supernatural HorrorCan include ghosts, monsters, dark forces, zombies, or pretty much any creepy thing that can’t be found in the real world.

Paranormal activity comes into this category because everything included in this subgenre is ‘unnatural’ as these sort of things aren’t seen in everyday life. People get the thrill of these sort of films because of the unknown.

Psychological HorrorDriven by characters’ fears and focused more on psychological dread than on murder, mutilation, and gore. Could be supernatural, but is more often associated with those twists where the protagonist turns out to be insane.

The Blair Witch Project enters this category as bad things are in the dark and it winds up your mind making you think about what’s going on; this gives the audience a thrilling experience.

The mummy comes under this subgenre as there is a lot of darkness and conventional ‘gothic’ objects.

Scream; this comes into this subgenre as the killer ‘scream’ kills other characters using lethal weapons and ‘screams’ identity is never revealed.
