A two shot is used to show the two different character’s facial expressions and costume. In this particular scene, it creates a comedic effect due to the odd faces they are pulling and costume of a neck pillow, cap and headphones of the woman. However, this costume links to the setting of an airplane, creating a realistic event. The high key lighting creates a positive atmosphere which is conventional for a comedy film. Shallow focus is used to show that the woman is the main character in the scene whereas the man is out of focus, connoting a character of less importance.

An establishing shot is used to show the audience where the film is set, in this case, New York. The ambient lighting creates a positive atmosphere and sets the happy mood for the film which is conventional for a comedy film. Due to New York being a city, it connotes that the film is going to be a fast paced, American film. Shallow focus is used to emphasize the buildings closest to us.

A wide shot is used to show the audience all six bridesmaids, including their facial expressions and costume. The colours used in this scene are pale, pastel colours which connotes femininity and purity. However, the woman far left is wearing black trousers, showing she is more masculine than the other characters. The setting of this scene is a bridal shop which is an elegant place, connoted through the large mirrors, chandelier and gold furniture. The facial expressions of the characters juxtapose the happy environment in which a bridal shop should be.

A two shot is used to show the two characters reaction to one of them getting engaged. The costume of a cardigan, jumper and jeans connotes a relaxed environment, showing that the two characters are good friends. The bottle of wine in the centre third draws our attention due to its position, showing that the two women have been drinking however the bowl of apples in the left third juxtaposes this due to it being healthy. Nevertheless, due to the wine being in a more prominent position, it shows it is of greater importance.

An over the shoulder shot is used to show the maid of honour looking up what her duties are on the internet. In the background we can see what looks to be her bedroom, showing she is doing it in private connoting a sense of worry. The pink colours on the website signifies that it is a website mainly used by females.

A wide shot is used to show the bridesmaids having dinner, discussing the wedding they are supposed to be planning. All of the characters look feminine due to their costume and hair styles apart from the one in the front right who has a short haircut and is wearing a shirt signifying more masculinity. The lighting in the scene is quite dim, showing a relaxed environment.
