REASONS FOR FAILURE
• OGL = RL +3.00 (lower area) not RL +4.00
• Slope gradient steeper than 1 : 2
• Area filled to RL +5.50
• Stability check indicates embankment is not stable
REMEDIAL MEASURES
• Fill height lowered to RL +4.90
• Slope gradient to be trimmed to 1 (V) : 3 (H)

REMEDIAL MEASURES Maintain embankment slope 1 : 3
Temporary surface drain to avoid water ponding on surcharge fill
Crack to be immediately sealed to reduce infiltration of surface water
Coordinate with surrounding developers to minimize adverse condition on the stability of surcharge fill
REASONS FOR FAILURE OGL = RL +3.00 (lower area) not RL +4.00
Tremendous development at surrounding area which partly contributed impact on the subsoil and ground water regime
Under wet condition (heavy rains), the embankment fill is likely to lose its strength and tension cracks tend to pose instability problems
The southern side is located at the lowest GL next to Sg.Hitam. The subsoil condition is likely to be worse than the interpreted subsoil conditions for the entire site.
