Level 6 I can use evidence from the text to support my main points

I can confidently find and comment on the narrative hooks in the opening chapter

I explain in detail how narrative hooks engage the reader and I use the appropriate terminology to do this

I can comment on the effect that the writer’s language choices has on the reader

Level 5 I use evidence to support most of my ideas but sometimes my points are not always accurate

I can identify the language used to engage the reader with some explanation of how it is used and begin to consider the effect for the reader

Level 4 I can identify the narrative hooks I can select a quotation from the

opening chapter to support my points

I can make simple comments on how language is used to engage the reader

I can identify some examples of language using the appropriate terminology (adjective, simile, question, sentence type)
