APARTMENT FIRE LEAVES 17 HOMELESS

A fire last night at 1420 South Main St. damaged six apartments, forcing residents to find new homes for the night. Firefighters think the fire started when a space heater in Sam’s apartments overheated and caught fire. Sam smelled smoke and woke up quickly when the fire alarm in his bedroom went off. He called 911 and the fire trucks came immediately. No one was hurt, but it took the firefighters almost 2 hours to put out the fire.
