Lucius Annaeus Seneca was born in Cordoba( Cordvba in the Hispania Baetica) in 4 BC , he was educated in Rome and became famous not only as a playwright, but as an orator and philosopher as well. He served as tutor to the young Nero, and when the boy became Emperor in 54 AD, he retained Seneca as his advisor Lucio Anneo Séneca nació en Córdoba ( en la Bética Hispana) en el año 4 AC, se educó en Roma y fue famoso no sólo como dramaturgo , sino también como filósofo.Enseñó al joven Nerón y cuando éste fue emperador en el año 54 DC, se convirtió en su consejero

For several years, Seneca exerted a calming influence on the young emperor. After he retired in AD 62, however, he lost favour with his former pupil, and in AD 65, he was accused of conspiring against Nero and was forced to commit suicide. Séneca ejerció una tranqulizante influencia sobre el joven emperador durante unos años . Pero al jubilarse en el año 62, perdió el apoyo de su antiguo alumno y en el año 65 DC fue acusado de conspiración, y forzado al suicidio.

He wrote the following works: The Trojan Women, Oedipus, Medea, The Mad Hercules, The Phoenician Women, Phaedra, Agamemnon and Thyestes.
