• Map Your World Project since 2009– Problem: complex (infrastructure, time-wise)

• Strategic Initiative FHNW, School of TeacherEducation:Promote the interest of secondary school students in technical professions

• Limitation: 4 lessons!

• Students record their daily routes (~ 1 Week)

• GPS data is uploaded, stored and processedin a central database (PostgreSQL)

• Web application provides results as maps showing spatial-kinesthetic behavior and motion patterns:

– Heatmap of GPS tracks

– Hotspots

– Indoorlocations

– Introduce map and navigation technologies(GPS, map navigation and interpretation etc.)

– Create an awareness of Privacy and how Privacy is related to spatial data

• „When we’re out, the boys are together and the girls are together, except on Friday afternoon.“

• “There is no crosswalk in front of Migros, even though many people cross the street there.”

• “You could figure out where to place a kebab stand.”
