Section A 1 (b) Guidance This question is worth 25 marks. Question 1(b) requires candidates to select one production and evaluate it in relation to a media concept. The list of concepts to which questions will relate is as follows: Genre Narrative Representation Audience Media language To achieve a level 4 answer you must demonstrate: Aclear understanding of key concept and relevant media theory and can relate concepts articulately to the production outcome, describing specific elements in relation to theoretical ideas. Offer a broad range of specific, relevant, interesting and clear examples of how their product can be understood in relation to relevant theories. The use of conceptual language is excellent. Complex issues have been expressed clearly and fluently using a style of writing appropriate to the complex subject matter. Sentences and paragraphs, consistently relevant, have been well structured, using appropriate technical terminology. Few, if any, errors of spelling, punctuation and grammar. Final Key Points : Timings . o You only have 30minutes to write this exam answer so the more your practice the better. Only discuss ONE of your productions . o This question only requires you to discuss oneproduction. For the majority of you the A2 Music Video will be the coursework which you will discuss for this question. Address the question and use theory . o Focus on the key concept asked in the question. Some theorists do fit into more than one key concept. Learn them!! Use P-D-Q structure . o This ensures that you are making specific, relevant points which are related to question. Use a range of points . o Aim to use at least 5 theorists in your response.
