INTRODUCTION
• Home Science education is the Philosophy of “home and family”
• Its aim is to provide intellectual, cultural, moral, aesthetic, vocational, utilitarian, economic and social values not only to the individual but whole society
• health, first aid and home nursing as well as foods, nutrition and cookery are part of their syllabus
MATERIALS AND METHOD
• Questionnaire was formulated with questions relating to socio-economic background, dietary pattern, and nutritional knowledge.
• Total 80 Girls studying in third year degree class of B. Sc. Home Science were selected
• Hemoglobin estimation was done by Sahli’s hemometer
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
• 37.5 % joint family while 62.5 % nuclear family.
• 47.2 % backward class and 52.7 % higher class
• 36.1 % rural and 63.8 % urban area.
• 79.24 percent girls once in a month
• 7.4 percent once in fifteen days
• 9.72 percent once in a week
• 3.70 percent thrice in a week visit fast food restaurant

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
• The objective of the study was to see the role of home science education in imparting knowledge of foods , nutrition and cookery
• The ultimate goal of every education is to impart the students skill based, value oriented and entrepreneurial knowledge which gives them healthy, wealthy and happy life
• More study is needed in this direction as well as the role of home science education in personality and overall development of a person.
