1988 in Saint Michael, Barbados. Afroguyanense daughter mother

and Barbadian father of Irish descent. Her childhood was marked by her father's addiction to cocaine. Her parents divorced when Rihanna was fourteen.

At 15, she formed a group with two classmates. In 2003, she presented a project to record with producer Evan Rogers. A year later, she moved to the U.S.A to record their first demo.

Copies were sent to several record labels, one of them being sent to rapper Jay-Z (Beyonce's husband), who signed her to his Def Jam Records company. Her first album "Music of the Sun", which sold 69,000 copies, was published in 2005.

It achieved double platinum by the more than 600,000 digital downloads in the country and two gold records. The album eventually sold over three million worldwide.

She won the gold record in the United States, Germany, Italy, France, UK, Japan and Platinum in Canada.
