LOGO Rihanna’s logo immediately, when

looked at, gives off an edgy, unique outlook and promotes the artist as original and independent.

The fact that an ‘R’ is the only thing needed for her logo demonstrates her fame and recognisability; if audiences can infer from merely a letter that it represents Rihanna then she must be extremely well known.

The metal look to the letter shows her music as edgy and harsh rather than girly and the sharp edges give Rihanna as more serious status meaning fans see her as dedicated to the concentration on her music as the logo doesn’t take over.

NAME OF ARTIST Robyn Rihanna Fenty is Rihanna’s real name. She decided to call herself ‘Rihanna’ as her stage/fame name to segregate her two lives and the two people she can be. Robyn is the girl who grew up in a large family and is a down to earth, normal girl whereas Rihanna is the hugely known, glamorous and sassy woman who the world sees.

The fact that Rihanna can use a single proper noun to be recognised as shows just how famous she is; the is no need for a sir name to separate her from other artists with the same name. ‘Rihanna’ is so unique and iconic that it will go on for generations and be recognised globally.

WEBSITE Rihanna’s website layout, firstly,

is completely what you would expect; edgy and current. The utilisation of black and white and the lack of text (which is unnecessary due to her fame and well-known background information) adds to the unique and fashionable set up.

Rihanna is promoting herself as a brand and not just a singer. As seen on the side bar, there are links to her fragrance and merchandise shop including photos and videos to give fans a personal feel. Rihanna isn’t limited to just music, she is a name in its own right and can use that name for all kinds of publicity.

As expected, social media links are all shown at the bottom of the side tab which guide viewers to her pages. This advertising technique increases her followers and views on social media which also heightens her fame even more – this is common on pop/r&b artist’s websites.

MERCHANDISE Rihanna’s merchandise

suits her whole outlook to a T. The edgy and urban vibe to the clothing and products further adds to Rihanna’s unique style. The clothing is what Rihanna herself would wear; short and limited!

The simple colours and usage of sexualised images on the merchandise show Rihanna as confident and independent; her sense of style stands out and shows off her ‘tom-boyish’ side rather than a girly, sweet temperament.

The website is not limited to clothing only; it includes other aspects such as accessories, shown in the side bar, which are also edgy. Her fragrance is largely advertised and the appearance of it is classy but edgy, just like her personality.

HOW ARE ARTISTS IN YOUR GENRE

REPRESENTED? Every artist is shown differently in the pop culture; some are seen as seductive and deviant whereas some are viewed as innocent and girly.

The pop culture cannot be classed as one thing; it’s an umbrella term for all styles. In terms of Rihanna, an edgy and urban look is given off. However, for someone like Meghan Trainor a more fun and young temperament is conveyed along with certain colours associated with a style being continuous through the fashion, merchandise and advertisement of each artist.

Most popular pop artist’s to this day include Katy perry, Ariana Grande, Meghan Trainor, Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Demi Lovato and Taylor swift all of whom represent and stand for unique and differing beliefs and styles.

with her whole outlook too, however, it concentrates more on her music.

As seen to the right the layout is the same as the rest of her sites with the classic, edgy black, white and red colouring keeping her theme timeless and iconic.
