Photoshop
Photoshop was the program that I used to create my front cover and edit the images featured on all pages. This program was
hard to use at the beginning as I used different features of the program when completing my preliminary task and so I had to
learn as I constructed my product. Video tutorials helped me a lot through this process and I feel
the ending result of my product has showed this. When constructing the front cover I completed different drafts which
shows that as construction went on I learnt more about Photoshop and the different features I was able to use and so I
kept improving the front cover over the many weeks I was constructing it.
The pre-preliminary task which was my previous task helped me to gain some experience of different technologies such as Photoshop and the SONY camera which has
helped me improve on my media skills and I have been able to put these skills into action in the construction of
my music magazine.
introduction
InDesign
InDesign is a program very like Photoshop. I used this program for the first time when constructing my contents page and double page spread. At
the start I found it different to move from Photoshop to InDesign however as my construction of the two pages continued my skills and
knowledge of the program improved. Again, I completed drafts of each product and gained audience feedback which allowed me to continue to
develop the two products well enough to meet the standards of my target audience. The program itself got easier to use as I used it more and more – I got use to the cropping images tool and transform tool
which made it easier while constructing the pages. I believe my progression at InDesign worked well in the construction of my media product. Without InDesign I would have been unable to complete the contents page and double page spread so well and so Ii feel that my
skills in the program have benefitted the overall final product.
Blogger
Blogger is the blogging website which I chose to exhibit my planning, research, and construction on as it seemed the most appropriate way to show my progression at completing a media product in the form of
a music magazine. I had never previously owned or written a blog online so this task was a learning experience on how to use different social media websites such as blogs as I am normally use to Facebook and Twitter (skills which I used throughout the process). I feel Blogger worked well for my task and I am happy that I learned how to use the
blogging website to show my construction of my music magazine.
PadletPadlet is a website that I had
never previously used before and so I developed new skills by learning how
to upload and communicate with my audience on it. I used
Padlet to gain audience feedback on my images for the magazine and to also
display my work.
On this website I learnt how to design ways to show information to my audience and also I learnt how to embed Padlets on different platforms such as Blogger. I found this website very helpful when completing my tasks. Here is a screenshot of me using Padlet to gain audience feedback.
Survey Monkey
Survey Monkey is the format which I distributed my questionnaire on. I previously used this website to distribute my school magazine
questionnaire for my preliminary task. When using Survey Monkey I did find it difficult to adapt to the new ways of the website but through time and help from my teach and fellow classmates I learnt how to distribute and analysis my questionnaire to a high standard whereby the feedback
was correct and was answered by a large audience.
SLR Camera
SLR Camera is a type of camera which captures high quality shots. For my music magazine images I used a SONY SLR camera which I had previously used before
however I had to take into consideration high angle, low angle, eye level and other media conventions which
would ensure the image was professional. Other features which were a part of me using this type of
camera was lighting – I had to adapt to new environments to ensure lighting was correct; the use of
the flash on this camera helped to ensure the image was visible and not blurred.
