QUESTION 5How did attract/address you target

audience?

Page 2: Question 5

FRONT COVER For most magazines that are of the genres of jazz and R&B, the

colour scheme is usually fairly simplistic with very few colours used which is the reason that I had only used three colours which were purple, black and a variety of shades of grey. This had been attractive to my target audience as it would be have been something that they are used to, so they would feel more related to and comfortable in reading my magazine. The cover lines I had created had all been in relation to popular musicians of my chosen genres for my magazine, which had been more addressing to the target audience for my magazine as they would be able to create a form of personal identity and personal relationships which comes from the uses and gratifications theory. This means that the target audience will use my magazine to reflect their own personality, or to form relationships with others as part of a social group. Also as the model of my front cover is a black female, it can be seen as a generalisation of the population who listens to jazz and R&B music and also read magazines of these genres.

CONTENTS PAGE With my contents page, I had kept my layout very

simple, having the same colour scheme used for the page. This had made my magazine more attractive as I would be keeping the layout and colours being repetitive so my target audience will become familiar to them and will be less confusing as to if loads of different colours were used throughout my magazine. The images that I had taken for my contents page had been from previous concerts that I had attended, this helps to attract my target audience as they would be able to recognise the people who are in the images (except my model who is the top image) as they are partially known black singers from the genres that my music magazine is of. So this would be useful to addressing my audience as they are of the ethnicity which most singers of jazz and R&B are.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD The style that I had put my article in was an

interview which would allow my audience to somewhat interact with it as it can make them feel like they are talking to the person who had been interviewed. I had used the model from my front cover, to also be the model for my double page spread as it creates consistency for the audience because they would be able to be aware of the person as they are shown throughout the magazine. As my target audience is mainly for young adults from the ages of 16-23 years old, it would be easier to attract them as the format would be simplistic and easy to read, yet still have a very sophisticated.

ON THE WHOLE... For my whole magazine, I had overall kept

to that same colour scheme, patterns and layout which I feel would be attractive to my audience as it would be consistent but also had a different style to each page so they wouldn’t get bored read or looking through my magazine. I had used both female and male model for the images used in my magazine as it would be able generalise to both genders and could appeal also to all ethnicities but mainly to people of a black origin or culture.
