Purpose of the project

Our partnership aims to focus on the national values in the school curricula and to enrich them, on the other hand, the intercultural education we aim at fights against xenophobia and racism by supporting the principles of tolerance and mutual respect among teachers and students, including minority groups.

Objectives

To suggest new teaching approaches for conveying the didactic content in order to be better understood and appreciated by students;

To create a portfolio of didactic scenarios based on interactive strategies, with the help of the new technologies on common topics of national history, art, foreign languages or mother tongue language;

To sustain and encourage the use of foreign languages ;

To build new teaching strategies with the purpose of arising students’ interest for the national values they somehow tend to regard as obsolete;

To create a resource center based on the activities conducted in every participant school and on the information and experience exchange during the project;

To identify the national values that are taught in the school curricula and relate them to the wider concept of European identity;

To create interdisciplinary projects on topics related to national history, art and culture, foreign languages and mother tongue language;

To identify common elements in the national culture of each participant country, as well as the specific differences;

To improve the school activities in cooperation with the local community;

Activities

Creating the project LOGO; Project work on national days of partner countries; Exhibition with New Year’s traditional masks; Visits to the history museum or memorial houses in

the region of every school; Dramatization of a national fairy tale; Designing a portfolio that presents both the

similarities and the differences between the interpretations of the same story in the different countries participating in the project;

Art workshops on traditional handicraft (glass painting, egg painting;

Interdisciplinary teaching activities on national and European identity (Europe’s Day);

Photo exhibition of traditional houses and events; Essay contest on national identity that adds to the

European citizenship; Debate on the theme of national identity from the

point of view of the people that have spent a lot of time abroad (e.g. migrant workers, students that study/have studied abroad);
