Prof. Michael Rosemann Queensland University of Technology, Dr Michael Rosemann is a Professor and Head of the InformationSystems Discipline at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. Process change initiatives often fail due to an overly techcratic or “hard” approach, paying little attention to “soft” topics such as organisational and cultural factors. A balanced approach is needed but “soft” topics seem to defy rigorous analysis. There are solid techniques for dealing with the mysteries of culture and human behaviour, but we have to step out of our self-imposed BPM silos and borrow from other disciplines.
