LOCALIZATION

• The region is located where currently the Kentucky was originally colonized by settlers from the British colony of Pennsylvania in 1774, but was controlled by the Virginia throughout the war of independence, and became the fifteenth U.S. state to enter the union in June 1, 1792.

PolicyThe current Kentucky Constitution was adopted in 1891. The chief officer of the executive power in the governor's Kentucky. This is elected by the voters of the state for a term of up to four years duration. A given person may hold office as governor only twice. The Kentucky legislature consisting of the Senate and House of Representatives. The highest court in the judicial branch of Kentucky is the Kentucky Supreme Court, composed of seven judges, one of which is chosen by the group to act as Chief Justice.

STATE CAPITAL: FRANKFORT

Frankfort is in the (inner) Bluegrass region of Central Kentucky.The city is bisected by the Kentucky River, which makes an s-turn as it passes through the center of town. The river valley widens at this point, which creates four distinct parts of town. The valley within the city limits contains Downtown and South Frankfort districts, which lie opposite one another on the river. A small neighborhood with its own distinct identity, Bellepoint, is located on the west bank of the river to the north of Benson Creek, opposite the river from the "downtown" district. The suburban areas on either side of the valley are referred to as West Frankfort and East Frankfort, respectively.
