Dot's Typical Day in Kindergarten Horizons!

I am Dalmatian dog Dot from central

European and Mediterranean country,

Republic of Croatia.

I attend International Kindergarten

Horizons in Zagreb where I meet lots of

friends from all part of the World. We

enjoy our time in multicultural

environment in English language

Here are some components of my

typical kindergarten day!

Usually I am being dropped off

by my parents around 8:30am.

The morning typically involves

morning Gathering, signing in,

individual guided reading or free

play in different thematically

related centers till the breakfast

time.

After breakfast we do our morning gym indoors or

outdoors in our playground exploring different ways of

moving:

stretching, jumping, running,

dancing, rolling

swinging, sliding and climbing

rope walking, playing different

games

exploring changes in the nature

Large group work includes:

morning circle

show and tell

storytelling, songs, group games,

imaginative play, sharing

experiences, reading writing

sorting, counting, matching

objects, making connections

seeking patterns, recognize

relationships, working with shapes,

space and measures

exploring sand and water

My teacher one day said: “It's important to establish a strong

foundation for learning in the early years, and to do so in a safe

and caring play-based environment that promotes the physical,

social, emotional and cognitive development of all children.”

Around noon we are all

ready for lunch in our

classrooms. The lunch time

is a great opportunity for

children to talk and build

social skills.

The weekly kindergarten

lunch Menu can always be

found on the info bulletin

board in the kindergarten.

After lunch we enjoy quite time, relaxing and exploring:

musical instruments and listening classical music

art activities using crayons, markers or coloured pencils

unshaped material, modal clay, science activities

picture ORT books and recognizing letters in the text

Each week in the afternoon I can

choose between different

Extracurricular activities like:

Baby gym, Capoeira

Dance or Pilates class

Art or Drama workshop

Carl Orff music workshop

German or Spanish class

At the end of the day my mum or dad pick me up and I go

home after very happy and playful day.

“I like Kindergarten because we make, learn and do lots of

stuff. I like teachers there! I like their hearts because they

share!”
