1. PRESENT SIMPLE I travel WE travel

YOU travel YOU travel HE/SHE/IT travels THEY travel

• Verbs ending in ch / s / sh / z / x add –es

-E.g. Watch-es Kiss-es Wish-es

• Verbs ending in Cons+y remove –y and add –ies

- E.g Worry - Worries

• In the negative form we use DON’T /DOESN’T-E.g. I don’t travel very often

He doesn’t travel very often

• In the interrogative form we use DO / DOES

-E.g. Does she travel alone? Do they travel with their children?

• General actions, events and states -E.g. I have lunch with Peter every

Saturday Ice melts at 0° I believe in you

2. PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Present simple of BE + -ing

• Affirmative: He’s talking on the phone

• Negative: They’re not coming with us

• Interrogative: Is she still sleeping?

USE

• Temporary events and actions - E.g. I’m reading a mystery novel.

• To stress the repetitiveness of an action - E.g. She’s always crying!

• Arrangements - They’re having a barbeque on

Sunday.

3. PRESENT PERFECT

Present simple of HAVE + Past Participle

Affirmative: I have bought a new laptop.

Negative: I haven’t been to his new house yet.

Interrogative: Have you decided what to do?

USE

• Unfinished periods of time, experiences (up to now)

-E.g. I’ve had too much work this week.

I have never tried sushi.
