Confer with the resource teacher regarding the assessment tool required

My Tasks

These are the things I need to consider in preparing my first assessment tools:

1. Lesson objectives – the objectives must be SMARTER- (Specific, Measurable,

Attainable, Result-Oriented, Time bound, Efficient, Reliable)

2. Nature of the learners – the students’ intelligences.

3. Type of test to prepare – the type of test to be administered should be aligned in the

lesson objectives namely: cognitive, psychomotor and affective.

4. Level of difficulty – the level of difficulty in a given type of test must include easy,

average and difficult one.

5. Number of items - 10 or 20 items.

6. Key to correction

Others (pls. specify)

Appropriateness of the test format for the learning outcome being measured;

Clarity of the test item; and Technical and irrelevant cues (grammatical inconsistencies, verbal

associations and specific determiners).

My Analysis

Assessment tools are needed because:

They measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities of learners.

They provide the students ideas about their progress.

They guide the teacher to identify the strength and weaknesses of his/her students

They measure how effective is the teacher.

They measure the written performance of the students. They evaluate the effectiveness of the method/s used by the teacher. They asses if the lesson needs to teach again or not. They determine of who among the students have difficulty in the lesson.

I considered the following things when I prepared my first assessment tool: congruence to lesson objectives

nature of the students

type of test

With these, there is assurance that my assessment tool is valid, reliable, and useful on the

part of my students.

My Reflections

How did my students / learners perform in my first assessment tool?

When I conducted my first assessment tool, it was so fulfilling because the result

was good. Though they did not get perfect scores, I felt contented with it because the

results have proved that my students learned something from me. They probably had

difficulties in absorbing the lesson because it was taught as one. I think the topic should

be chopped, first simple and compound sentences, then followed by complex and

compound-complex sentences. Such way, we could assure that they can absorb the

concept easily, thus learning more.
