School

My Tasks 1. Based on the orientation activity conducted by the school, I shall complete the

responsibility matrix given below. Choose only two (2) expectations from the TEI’s / Cooperating School’s expectations and write your responsibilities.

Name of Teacher Education Institution: J.H. Cerilles State College

Expectations My Responsibilities1.Be a good teacher

2.Extend assistance anytime

I should be a role model for the pupils, exhibit good manners, habits, and behavior, and present the best possible image to the students.

I should be willing to extend my assistance even if without being told. I will offer a hand even if the resource teacher does not ask. I will make myself available to those who need my help.

Name of Cooperating School: J.H. Cerilles State College – High School Department

Expectations My Responsibilities1.Fulfill instructional

responsibilities

2. Comport myself as a professional

I should prepare complete, concise lesson plans, comply all reasonable requests made by my resource teacher, get to know more about my students, and especially maintain ethical interpersonal relationship with my resource teacher and my students.

Act as a professional in actions, words, dress’ appearance, and recognize and act congruent with the new status that I am not my students’ peer but rather a teacher.

2. How did I feel when I saw my practicum site? What are my apprehensions?

To be honest, I felt nervous, sad, and weary when I saw my practicum site because I was assigned in Grade 10, where from the first place, I didn’t want to be assigned. There were feedbacks from the teachers that they are intelligent, perfectionist,

and disrespectful – that made me more worried. I had mixed emotions. I had lots of what ifs in my mind. “What if I won’t be able to perform well? What if they will just get disappointed with my performance? What if I won’t be able to meet their expectations? What if my students won’t be able to learn from me?”. I wanted to back out but somehow there’s something that urged me to continue and pursue what had been started.

My Activities

After my orientation session with the administrator(s), cooperating principal, practicum supervisor, together with my co-practicum students, I need to equip myself with the PT Kit (Practice Teaching Kit) to better prepare myself in this wonderful world of teaching.

What tools do I need to bring in terms of K.A.S.H.?

KNOWLEDGE

I need to be knowledgeable enough about the topics to be tackled so that the information I am going to convey is accurate and giving wrong ideas could be avoided.

ATTITUDE

I should have unending patience and wide understanding for the learners so that I can determine the things I need to do. Thus, these attitudes are great components in the sense that as teacher, it’s really your task to handle and teach students with diversified character traits.

SKILLS

I should possess the essential skills in making sure that my learners’ varied learning styles and intelligences could be addressed through varying the methods and techniques that will be utilized.

HABIT

I need to make each activity be enjoyable and meaningful. For me to do so, I need first to be free from mannerisms so that the students’ attention will not be disturbed which can lessen their interest towards my discussion.

My Analysis

Orientation sessions are conducted because we, the student teachers need to

be well-equipped with what to do and how to do things inside and outside the cooperating

school premises. There is a need for us to be oriented on the policies of the school, the

students’ behaviors, and the role that we should act and do. Thus, we may be prepared in

facing and overcoming trials that may come along the way.

During the orientation I felt happy that at last I can now apply the theories

we learned and experience the real scenario of teaching. On the other hand, I am bothered

because I’m not quite sure if I can expound my ideas well especially in literature. My

worries include, not being able to speak fluently, to expound ideas, and to use appropriate

words at specific situations.

I know I can do it! I believe I can accomplish the tasks assigned to us with

the help of my co-student teachers, students, mentors, and of course God who is the

provider of everything.

My Reflections

Am I really prepared to teach?

Yes... No… Maybe… I’m not quite certain if I am because honestly, I’m not yet

expert in my field of specialization. I still have more to learn especially in my major,

ENGLISH though my expert teachers had taught me well. Given that I’m finally at the

crucial phase of my course, I will no longer stop and be a coward. I will continue in

pursuing my chosen course and overcome odds that may arise. I will do my best and

persevere even more no matter what in order to teach efficiently and effectively. It is

overwhelming upon knowing that someone is learning from you. Yes, I may be really not

prepared to teach for now, but I know this experience would be of great impact when I

will be in the real world of teaching.

This is now my first step in shaping the society for the better. I know for sure God

will always be my guide, my shepherd, my redeemer, my savior, and my great teacher.
