Old shoreline is where all the vegetation and bushes cease. Current is where the water ends now and the ancient shoreline is by the hill that surrounds mono lake.

Tufa There were cold and hot springs inside mono lake and when fresh water would flow in to mono
lake and mix with the lakes water it created tufas.
