History of the Lima Bean Lima beans, with their large starchy seeds, have

been traced back to about 2000 B.C. Peruvian capital, Lima, gave the beans their name

even though they are pronounced differently in the United States

Lima beans, like most beans, can be dried and stored for long periods of time, making them ideal for use on explorer's ships in the 1500s and easily sent overseas.

Our Observation Day 1: Our group planted the lima bean.

The seeds were planted.

evaporating on the side of the cups.

plant and saw a little plant.

Our Predictions for the Lima Bean We predict that the beanstalk will go

taller and lima beans will begin to grow.
