1. The network coach starts by building relationships with the senior pastors/ministers in the area.

• Relationship building includes sharing the stories of other Networks and casting the vision of a potential CPN.

• Meetings for lunch/breakfast/dinner must be with senior pastor/minister - will not work with other staff or elders (unless it is to open a door to senior leader).

• Seek referrals and partnership if leaders have good relationship with other senior leaders.

2. The network coach works at building relationships and staying consistent with the follow-up and scheduled meetings.

• The foundation of the CPN will be the desire for relationships/partnership among leaders/churches and planting a church.

• Relationship building and progress are often slow when starting from scratch – but remember the long-term possibilities of what can be accomplished.

• Continue to seek referrals and partnership if leaders have good relationship with other senior leaders. Go with the Goers – some will not stay with it.

3. When a sufficient number are clearly interested, hold a commitment discussion.

• Make sure that the key senior pastors/ministers will attend.

• If possible, encourage them to bring a few other key leaders (especially key staff or elders).

• Focus on the vision (what can be done) and provide DVDs and short articles that can be taken back to other staff and elders.

• Give the specifics on the commitments needed – a general MOU.

• Ask all participants to take the material back to their elders and staff.

4. The network coach should follow-up with all the key leaders.

• Call and see how the staff and elders responded.• Focus on a relationship with the senior pastor/minister.• Volunteer to meet with the elders and/or staff – may be

especially required in smaller churches.• Be prepared to cast the vision and do the teaching to

the Baby CPN several times.

5. Set a date to sign the M.O.U. when you have good reason to think everyone is ready.

• Clearly communicate the purpose of the meeting and make sure everyone is ready to sign.

• Be prepared for additional, unexpected meetings with key leaders/elders/staff because they now know that a decision must be made.

• Make sure everyone is committed and ready to sign before they arrive at the meeting.

• Expect unexpected drop-outs; Go with the Goers.

6. Hold the meeting – sign the M.O.U. – take pictures and celebrate.

• Make the signing a big deal – it is the key to the CPN. Without it, the CPN is talk; with it, the CPN will become a reality.

• Follow up on the CPN with clear communication and instructions for the book keepers of the churches.

• Make sure you have firm/clear dates set for all payments to be turned in.

• Be prepared to follow-up and make sure all money comes in to the proper account.

7. The network coach follows up with the next meeting and leads the group through the rest of the process.

• Determine the exact location of the plant.• Develop a clear job description/profile for the planter.• Set up management team.• Coach the management team on hiring the planter.• Guide the management team on getting training and

coaching for the planter.• Follow the path of a CPN (described elsewhere)
