Behaviorism John Watson launched

behaviorist movement

Anyone can be trained for a task

Behavior is acquired through conditioning

Interacts with the environmental stimuli

Observable behavior

Page 4: Personality Theory

Classical Conditioning

Responds to neutral stimulus.

Unconditioned stimulus

Unconditioned response

Conditioned stimulus

Conditioned response

Page 5: Personality Theory

Operant Conditioning Second form of

learning

Stimuli responses to connections

Behavior is modified by consequence

Positive consequences

Negative consequences

Page 6: Personality Theory

Reinforcement Term use in operant

conditioning

Increases the stimuli responses

Positive reinforcement

Negative reinforcement

Shaping

Page 7: Personality Theory

Tabula rasa Known as empiricists

Set doctrine by John Locke in the 1690’s

Mind begins as a blank slate

Environment shapes the person

Knowledge is determined by experience

Page 8: Personality Theory

Bandura’s Social Learning Theory

Influential social-learning theory

Encompasses observational learning

Cognitive process

Complex variables

Environmental variables

Behavior

Page 9: Personality Theory

Observational Learning Learn from watching

others (the model)

Attention process

Observing the world (retention processes)

Watching what other people do (motor reproduction model)

Rewards and Punishment directly shape People

Page 10: Personality Theory

Self-Efficiency Successful belief

In behavioral competence

Outcome of a particular action

Produces a desire result

Exercise control over threatening events

Page 11: Personality Theory

Conclusion In conclusion behaviorism is the concept in

which people can learn different methods of producing a certain stimuli response. To accomplish different task through certain methods such as classical conditioning, operant conditioning, social learning,. And set long term goals through their observational learning, and self-efficiency character.
