WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT.

YouTubeI have used ‘YouTube’ countless times when constructing this product mainly for research purposes. It was used when needing to research conventions of our genre and also when looking for tutorials regarding editing techniques. This was used to extreme effect as without YouTube we wouldn’t be able to use as many editing effects as what we did. In addition to this, if we wanted to embed our video onto a certain device we would have to upload it to YouTube before hand, as I’ve never had to upload and embed previously I learned how to navigate across YouTube confidently and effectively. This comfortable use of YouTube allowed me to view my opening sequence at home and then look how how I needed to improve it to make my final draft as good as possible. Below is the final draft that was uploaded on to YouTube. Furthermore YouTube was used to find tutorials for certain effects and how they can be done to be extremely effective.

Adobe PremiereAdobe Premiere was used to add effects, cut and import different sections to make our final product. By using this format to do that we ended up with a smooth and effective product. Before constructing this project I was only able to access adobe premiere and put different shots together however after this project I am able to use it more comfortably and also edit the sound and effects of our opening sequence. This connects to the final product as me and my group were constantly having to use Adobe Premiere in order to edit our shots to make it flow making certain features of our opening sequence flow as much as possible. The use of Adobe Premiere allowed match on action and continuity editing to be a vital part of our sequence.

Example of what Adobe Premiere looks like

Nikon DSLRI had little to no experience with using this specific camera previously therefore this is one example of a piece of technology that I have become competent with. In the first and second draft I wasn’t acting therefore I was required behind the scenes to do camera work and in this time I learned how to effectively use the camera to get successful shots. Overall, by successfully using the Nikon DSLR I was able to collect a range of different shots, one of which is in the bottom right hand side of the page. However in the final product I did very little work using the camera other than check each individual shot to make sure it was adequate. By doing this I was able to pick the best shot and if it was poorly framed then we could re-shoot it to get the best one possible.

This is an image of the camera that was used throughout the filming process.

One of the shots I took in the second draft using the Nikon DSLR.

TripodTripod I was required to use the tripod when behind the camera during the first and second draft filming. It was relatively easy to use and needed common sense to become competent at filming. It was easy to adjust the height as all I needed to do was unclip the bottom and pull down each leg so that each leg would get longer. The most difficult thing about using the tripod was doing pan shots as often it may be very rough therefore making it extremely difficult to get a smooth shot to use. Overall without the tripod our piece would be awful as it allowed use all to get steady and effective shots.

Visual PresentationVisual Presentations. Throughout the process of constructing this task I used blogger numerous times as a way of keeping everything that I used and needed in one place. I attempted to make this as visually appealing as possible and mainly used Prezi and SlideShare as ways of presenting information whilst keeping them visually attractive therefore easier to read. Both of which are simple and the only thing that is required is the information on what you are writing about and knowledge on how to embed them on your blog. Overall both were used on numerous occasions and by using them a lot through the creation of this project, I intent on using them more often in future projects.

ConclusionOverall, throughout the creation of the opening sequence I have been able to use a wide range of technology devices which has seen a vast improvement of my knowledge of how to use them. The main thing I have learned and become more familiar with is the use of Adobe Premier as this was completely new to me therefore I had to mess around with it for a while in order to gain a clear understanding of how everything worked. The knowledge I had on YouTube was very strong previously however it was mainly used to search for different tutorials. Below is a link of an example of a video that was used to help us edit something from our second draft and next to it is how the tutorial helped us edit a glow.
