MEANING USE-THE EVENT IS IN THE PAST

-THE EVENT IS COMPLETELY FINISHED

-TO TALK ABOUT ACTIONS THAT HAPPENED AT SPECIFIC TIME IN THE PAST-DESCRIBE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME IN THE PAST BUT NOT NOW-TO TALK ABOUT HABITUAL OR REPEATED ACTIONS THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE PAST

TO ADD -EDRULE 1: final e only add dRULE 2: final consonant + y, change y to i, + edRULE 3: one syllable vowel + consonant, double final consonant + edRULE 4: two or more syllables vowel + consonant, double final consonant + edRULE 5: vowel + (x,w and y) add -ed

PAST PROGRESSIVE OR CONTINUOUS LOCATION

USE-Expresses actions in progress at a particular time in the past-Past simple and past continuous are used together when something happened in the middle of something else-two incomplete actions in progress at the same time in the past

Past Continuous StructurePast Continuous structure is:[SUBJECT] + was/were + [VERB with completion -ing]

Past Continuous DenialDenial is formed simply by adding the adverb "not" between the verb "to be" (was / were) and the main verb of the sentence:[SUBJECT] + was/were not + [VERB with completion -ing]

For example:● I was not singing.● He was not singing.

The Question in the Past Continuous

To construct the question simply the verb "to be" and the subject is reversed:was/were + [SUBJECT]+ [VERB with completion -ing]

For example:● was I singing?● were you singing?

If the question had an interrogative particle structure would[INTERROGATIVE PARTICLE] + was/were + [SUBJECT] + [VERB with completion -ing]

RULES TO ADD -ING IN THE PAST CONTINUOUS

RULE 1: SHORT VOWEL, WITH ONE CONSONANT = DOUBLE THE CONSONANT AND ADD “ING”

RULE 2: SHORT VOWEL SOUND, WITH TWO CONSONANTS, JUST ADD “ING”

RULE 3: ENDING “e” = DROP THE “e” THEN ADD “ING”

RULE 4: LONG VOWEL SOUND = JUST ADD “ING”

CONCLUSIONS WITH THIS PRESENTATION WE INVESTIGATE, LEARN AND WRITE SO MUCH ASPECTS OF THE DIFFERENTS VERBAL TIMES NOW WITH ALL THAT INFORMATION WE CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE VERBAL TIMES, WHEN USE THEM AND WHICH PREFIXES USE FOR THE . WE KNOW TOO THE DIFFERENT STRUCTURES FOR EACH ONE AND THE SIMILARITY WITH THESE, WE ALREADY KNOW HOW TO NAME THE VERBS IN THE VERBAL TIME WE NEED AND WHAT TYPE ARE, WE LEARN TOO HOW TO MAKE EXAMPLES OR MINIMUM BASICS, WE LEARN THAN THE PAST SIMPLE ONLY HAVE TO BE USED WHEN WE TALK ABOUT ACTIVITIES THAN ARE ALREADY FINISHED,FOR THIS WE USE THE VERBS WITH TERMINATION “ED” WITH THE RESPECTIVE RULES AND THE PAST CONTINUOUS HAVE TO BE USED WHEN WE TALK ABOUT AN ACTION IN THE PAST BUT ISN’T ALREADY FINISHED AND FOR THIS WE USE THE VERBS WITH TERMINATION “ING” WITH THE RESPECTIVE RULES.

Conclusion.

simple past and past continuous are two tenses in English which are used for prayers in English have consistency to interpret and not fall into a grammatical inconsistency trying to say one thing and fall into another is why it requires auxiliary and different variations and rules to be well used these 2 tenses and achieve the proper use of grammar in the English language.
