Organic Music An organic star is someone who has gained fame and success on their own,

relying on talent and in most cases, a band, and being part of that band is the main reason that they have become a 'star' in the first place.

Artists that fall under this category are represented in a more natural and genuine manner. The artist is allowed to produce their own music and establish their own style without interference from the record label. Negus considers them as “long-term acts” and feels that it is part of a larger strategy in which the artist will generate profits over an extended period of time by having a developed fan base spanning across a number of generations, unlike synthetic acts, which normally disappear after a few years.

Those 'organic' people in the music industry are constructed to have a look that is not constructed, Negus describes them as real people, who have personal authenticity. That is what makes the act able to be in the music industry undoubtedly their whole life, and making new records as they go.

Synthetic Music These acts are constructed by record companies, they often

collaborate people who have never even worked together in order to create group acts. The most important aspect to note about synthetic acts is that they are ‘constructed’ and their sole purpose is to generate revenue.

Catchy one hit singles are a key element in the creation of synthetic acts where the record label designs songs which will seem attractive to the largest audience possible in order to maximize on profitability
