Native’s culture

The native’s American culture change from on tribe to the others.Each tribe has a different language, clothes and custom.Each tribe has its own healing traditions.

There were nearly 12 million Native Americans living in the United States, when the European colonists arrived on the American continent.They were divided in more than a thousand different tribes, each tribe had a different language and a different form of living.Many of them died from European diseases like smallpox.The colonists have appropriated of the Indian’s lands for farming, ranching and mineral development.

1Music Music was connected to religious festivities They used breaths and percussions for make sound.The instruments were made by dried fruit, wood and shells

Agriculture They created and cultivated lots of plants species.Sometimes they created new species from others wild plants. Some examples of plants are: - maize-pumpkin and squash -tomatoes -kidney bean-cacao-vanilla-tobacco

 Language  There are lots of different languages in America, that were divided in:•Amerindian languages•Esquimo-aleutianas languages•Na-dené languages.

The most important natives languages are: Quechua GuaraníAimara Náhuatl Maya Mapuche  Actually, the language most spoken is southern quechua, with 5 millions of active speakers.

History  The natives Americans descend from the group of Siberians hunters that migrate to America.The oldest civilization was Caral, in Perú , that comes from 3000 a.C. Some people think that in the XI century the Vikings setted up the first Europeans colonies in America, now called New Scotland, but they stayed there short time.

In 1492, began the European colonization in America. The Spanish empire invaded America and eliminated the governments local systems and imposed the Spanish administrations.The colonizings forced the natives to work. Lots of natives died by diseases of the colonizings and for military actions

Gerónimo  Geronimo was born in 1829 in a Mexican territory.A soldier called him Geronimo.He was the leader of the latest Indian army that fought against the united states.He was a cruel murderer.In 1895 the soldiers killed his wife, his three sons and his mother.Also, He was the tribe boss and he was in prison.He died in 1909.Now people shout Geronimo when they jump Geronimo jumped from a precipice from a tall place because before the americans killed him, but this isn’t sure, is a legend.Other legend is that a parachutist jumped from an airplane and shouted Geronimo because the day before he has watched his film

Toro Sentado Tatanka Iyotake, also called Toro sentado was the Indian boss of the Sioux hunkapa tribe.He was born in 1831.He conduced 35000 Indians Sioux and Cheyenne against the seventh of cavalry.Toro Sentado and his soldiers went to fight in Canada.He died in 1890.
