Narrative- Fall Out Boy Sugar, were going down Tells the story of a man with antlers trying to find love. He is tormented by

an old man who hates him but has a secret to hide. He has deer feet and is actually similar to the antler man.

Pro’s; Tells a story to the audience/ lots of tracking on the character in the narrative/ lots of shots/ the band is in the narrative in a cabin at the location.

Con’s In many narrative videos the story is more influential than the song and the audience concentrate more on the narrative and not the band.

Symbolic- RHCP Otherside Symbolises the use of drugs and how addiction takes over the body and how

hard it is to quit.

Pro’s; Shows the audience the depth of the problem the artist has or had/ Makes them see how hard it is to cope and allows them to see problems with people they know/ creates a massively iconic music video.

Con’s; The idea of drug use and displaying the symbolic drug problem is criticised by many as it is very deep and some believe it shouldn’t be displayed to all age audiences.

Rock has a performance theme and most are performance music videos showing crowds and live shows.

Pop has a dance theme and most pop videos show dance routines throughout and also many tend to include product placement
