Good news: Growing realization of the importance of communication by donors, UN Agencies and projects’

partners.!The GEF is increasingly promoting and investing in knowledge management/sharing tools and programs

Analysis and assessment will be done by UNESCO-IHP in close cooperation with project partners and national focal points

Why is it relevant? (changing behavior, influencing

decision-making, preventing resource degradation,..)

When do we take action? (timeline)

Whom do we want to communicate it to?

(Who’s our audience(s)?)!

What do we want to communicate?

(What’s our message(s)?)!

How do we want to communicate it? (What channels/vehicles will

we use?)!

Outreach strategy and action plan

Outreach strategy and action plan 2.4

Additional remarks / mental notes

A successful strategy is no one-size-fits-all: tailored approaches, tools and messages adapted to audiences

Successful communication is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. Adaptation: it is important to “keep at it” - just as being flexible and creative in responding to changing conditions

Resources need to be properly budgeted: tools and activities tailored to the level of time and human and financial resources available

Question & Answer 1.1

Food for Thought…

In your experience, what do you recall as a successful example of good communication activity?

Is there any particular cultural aspect that we should consider when preparing the outreach strategy?

What should be avoided?

At the national level, can you share an example of existing initiatives that we

could link our efforts to? Rakhmet, Katta Rahmat,Рахмат,

Thank You, Merci, Rakhmat, Спасибо

Can you suggest national/regional organizations that we could engage with to maximize the impact of our

strategy and help us better understanding local needs?
